By Don Briselden, Emeriti/Retiree Committee Chair

  Hello to all:

This update arrives just a bit past its first birthday. Last July I retired from Phillips Exeter Academy and with the support of the chapter board began a somewhat regular effort to reach out and stay in touch with the chapter retirees. I hope the e-mails and articles have been helpful.  Once again with this edition, I will provide information of upcoming events that will be of interest to emeriti and retirees as well as active members.

The spring Chapter meeting was held Tuesday and Wednesday March 14-15, 2006 at the Saint Joseph’s College Campus, overlooking Sebago Lake, in Standish, Maine. We all enjoyed an excellent meeting hosted by Dan Gearan and his staff.

As a result of discussions at the spring meeting a group of active and retired chapter members are beginning an initiative to collect information and write the history of the chapter. Dick Eustis has agreed to head up the effort. While some valuable information may come from the chapter documents, most of the interesting bits and pieces will be your oral history. So, if you have something to share please send it to Dick Eustis at eustis@infionline.net

The fall 2006 meeting will at Dartmouth College on Tuesday, November 14. Because Dartmouth has limited facilities when the college is in session, John Gratiot, with the full support of the board, has arranged for an interesting one day program emphasizing sustainable construction and facilities operations.  More details can be found on the Chapter website: http://www.erappa.org/nne  If the one-day program works it will be an alternative to the standard two day meeting format and may be appealing to the potential hosts at smaller colleges.

Congratulations to Dan Gearan for arranging for the updated website; it is a positive step forward. The site has links to APPA and ERAPPA. The 2006 ERAPPA conference will be at Mystic CT, October 15 -18. Registration is now open and you can find out more through the chapter link or at www.erappa.org/.

The spring meeting will be held at Keane State. Frank Mazzolla informs us that Lander Medlin, Executive Vice President of A.P.P.A., has agreed to be the featured speaker on March 15, 2007 during the opening luncheon of the spring, 2007 Chapter meeting being held at Keene State College.  The meeting theme is "Leadership from Within". See more about Keene at http://www.keene.edu/

We look forward to being with you at one or more of the upcoming meetings. I would like to send out an updated "Where in the world is?" but I need new information. So, please stay in touch and share your news by sending an update to my e-mail address: briseldens-exeter@verizon.net.

Wishing you all the best!
